Elizabeth Shoaf Story – 10 Days of Living Hell
Elizabeth Shoaf has a story to tell. Its one of those stories that is so powerful. It encapsulates the courage of a fourteen year old and her family’s love that drove her to survive.
The story begins as a 26 year old pervert named Vinson Filyaw began stalking Elizabeth at the Bus stop. He approached her dressed as a police officer and asked her to follow him.
According to Elizabeth Shoaf, being the obedient child she is she did as she was told by the policeman. The walk seemed to last forever and he persuaded her to walk into a secluded area. He led her towards playground area, but unknowing to her he had built an “in the ground” underground covered up bunker.
It is in this underground bunker she spent 10 days, but to her it seemed like an eternity. The remainder of her time there, it is reported that he chained her, repeatedly assaulted her and violated her everyday.
When it was realised that her daughter was missing, Elizabeth’s mother alerted and contacted the local police, apparently they did noty take her seriously and dismiss her concerns as over reacting as Elizabeth is just another runaway and they refused to raised the amber alert.
This obviously pissed off Elizabeth’s mother, so she took it on her own and began to make a plea for her daughter’safe return on national television.
Now unknowing to her, Elizabeth saw her mother’s plea for her safe return on television. A TV was in the bunker where she was held in captivity. Why was a TV underground? I believe the pervert was trying to make the place homely, thats just my opinion.
On hearing that her parents and the entire county was looking for her Elizabeth came up with a plan to let them know she was ok. She was able to obtain a cell phone from the kidnapper and she sent a few text messages to her mom letting her know that she was alright. Her mom got one of her messages and so did the blasted media, they revealed how her mom received a text message from her daughter. How stupid are those media people.
This revelation that his captive somehow got a message out to the world made Vinson angry and so too was Elizabeth, she was very afraid that her kidnapper would be angry and hurt her even more.
To her surprise the her kidnapper was more scared of being caught, that he ask her what to do!! Elizabeth told him to allow her to run away, and he let her go.
The next day and she was found.
10 days had passed by and she was finally free.
Vinson Filyaw had been caught and sentenced to 421 years in prison.
